A Bike Mechanic is responsible for performing various repairs, routine maintenance, and customization services on bicycles. They diagnose problems through inspections and tests, disassemble bicycles to access parts and systems requiring repairs, clean and lubricate parts and systems, and reassemble bicycles to adjust and align brakes, gears, chains, wheels and frame components. They also order and install new parts as required, and advise customers on maintenance best practices and safety tips. Inspect bicycles to identify mechanical, electrical, or performance issues. Diagnose and repair problems with brakes, gears, chains, pedals, wheels, forks, and other bicycle components. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubricating chains, adjusting gears, and inflating tires. Replace worn-out or damaged parts such as tubes, tires, brake pads, cables, and derailleurs. Install accessories and upgrades according to customer preferences, such as lights, bells, racks, and suspension systems. Test ride repaired bicycles to ensure proper functioning and alignment. Provide customers with accurate estimates of repair costs and timeframes. Assist customers in selecting appropriate bicycles or accessories based on their needs and preferences. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of tools and parts. Stay updated with industry trends, new bicycle models, and advances in bicycle technology.
