This role will initially focus heavily on valve actuation systems while providing opportunities to expand into broader I&E responsibilities including instrumentation, electrical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance development, and reliability improvement initiatives. This position works within the Maintenance Department and partners closely with Operations, Engineering, and Reliability personnel to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and enhance preventative maintenance practices across the terminal. Key Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic valve actuators and associated control systems. Diagnose actuator, limit switch, solenoid, positioner, control circuit, and communication issues. Perform valve stroke testing, calibration checks, and functional verification of automated valve systems. Support troubleshooting of motor control circuits, relays, control panels, and field instrumentation. Perform troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of pressure transmitters, temperature probes, and associated instrumentation. Provide troubleshooting, maintenance, and reliability support for vapor combustion unit (VCU) skid systems and associated crude loading dock instrumentation and controls. Assist with commissioning and startup activities for new or modified equipment. Coordinate with operations personnel to safely isolate, test, and return equipment to service. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history documentation. Reliability & Preventative Maintenance Help identify opportunities to improve preventative and predictive maintenance practices within the terminal. Support development of PM procedures, inspection routes, and equipment criticality improvements. Participate in reliability improvement efforts focused on recurring equipment failures and operational issues. Assist in identifying obsolete or critical spare parts related to actuator and I&E systems. Recommend equipment upgrades or improvements that enhance reliability, safety, or maintainability. Qualifications Technical degree, certification, or equivalent experience in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred. Experience troubleshooting valve actuators, automated valves, or industrial control equipment preferred. Basic understanding of electrical systems, control circuits, and instrumentation principles. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and technical manuals. Experience working in industrial, terminal, petrochemical, pipeline, marine, or manufacturing environments preferred. Familiarity with safe work practices including LOTO, hot work, and hazardous area requirements. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a maintenance team environment. Preferred Experience Experience with electric actuator manufacturers such as Rotork, AUMA, or Emerson equipment. Valve automation and controls. PLC or SCADA system exposure. Preventative maintenance program development. Industrial communication protocols and control systems. Work Environment Industrial terminal environment including outdoor field work. May require climbing, lifting, confined space entry support, and work around marine or process equipment. Occasional after-hours or callout support may be required based on operational needs.
