This role is responsible for the safety, reliability, and compliant operation and maintenance of instrumentation, automation, control, and information systems critical to offshore facilities. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong personal safety leadership, technical discipline, and commitment to Shells values, One GoA Mindset, and operating standards. Whats the role As an Instrument / Automation, Controls Technician - Offshore Operations, you will be responsible for the following duties:Accountabilities:
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot offshore instrumentation, automation, and control systems Support maintenance of PLCs, DCS, safety instrumented systems (SIS), fire & gas systems, and process control networks Maintain IT/ACR safety critical and environmental barriers in alignment with SEMS and the SEAM Framework Perform loop checks, testing, calibrations, and functional testing of instruments and control systems Support fault finding, system diagnostics, and corrective maintenance activities Participate in permit to work, system isolations, and lock out/tag out activities Support commissioning, upgrades, and system readiness activities Exercise Stop Work authority and actively promote a strong safety and compliance culture. Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Digital teams to ensure safe and reliable operations Work Location Gulf of America (Offshore) Candidates must be willing to work at any Shell offshore asset, based on business needs Work assignments may change over time to support operational and maintenance requirements Work Schedule Offshore rotation: 14 days on / 14 days off Transportation provided by helicopter or boat for crew change What we need from you Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work visa Must be at least 18 years of age Must have a high school diploma or equivalent required GED required Recent Offshore Upstream Gulf of America (GoA) experience, with current contractor experience supporting Shells Gulf of America operations Demonstrated experience in Instrumentation, Automation, Controls, or Industrial IT environments Ability to speak, read, and write in English Ability to work in offshore conditions, including climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, and working outdoors Successful completion of the Shell Operations Aptitude Test (within 5 days of submitting application) Fulfillment of asset specific IT/ACR competency and training requirements, based on business needs Certified NCCER Instrumentation Technician Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) HUET (Helicopter Underwater Egress Training) Ability to pass pre employment medical evaluation, drug screen, and background check Ability to work on elevated platforms and grating Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) This position is safety critical and subject to applicable regulatory requirements Shell is an equal opportunity employer. For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan.
