EDG Inc JobSummary:
The AutomationTech will be responsible for drawings,I&E databases, control system programming, and other functions related toautomation.
JobDuties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare 2D drawings for assigned projects frominformation supplied and/or verbal instructions.
  • Edit drawings and incorporate changes fromprovided markups and/or verbal instructions.
  • Review information received from design teammembers, question inconsistencies, apparent errors, and omissions.
  • Interact with team members and clients for resolvingtechnical issues.
  • Ensure that workadheres to Client, Industry and Company Standards.
  • Maintain projectfiles and folders and follow company standards.
  • Responsible for keeping Project Leads updated onany concerns relating to respective assignments.
  • Perform corrections to the following drawings:
P&ID's, Wiring Diagrams, Schematics, Panel Layouts, E&I Details, andLoop Diagrams.
  • Calculate conduit and fittings sizes, cable trayfill, electrical loads, cabinet sizes, etc.
  • Select components meeting requirements.
  • Route cables systems, cables, and develop cableschedules.
  • Create Instrument Cable Block diagrams, cableand conduit routing and layouts, instrument and Junction box wiring diagramsusing information from P&ID's, GA's, IO list, vendor data.
  • Perform field work as required to obtainaccurate information and create sketches for the design of the project.
Duration determined by the project requirements and project management.
  • Create Control Systems Architectural Diagramsusing engineering data.
  • Program control systems software forProgrammable Logic Controllers and Distributed Control Systems.
  • Due to nature of assignment, may assume someduties of an Automation Professional as appropriate to skillset and experience. Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
  • Requires associatedegree in appropriate technical area or have prior working experience;
  • Ten (10) ormore years of experience relating to control systems in a professionalposition, internship, apprentice or coop program preferred;
  • Must haveworking knowledge of MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, andOutlook).
  • Familiar withdesign software i.e. (AutoCAD, and PDMS).
  • Understandingof P&ID's, GA, IO lists, and other related I&C documents.
  • Knowledge ofPLC and DCS systems
  • Knowledge ofISA Instrument Symbols and Identification.
WorkingConditions:
  • Work is primarily conducted in an officeenvironment (Private or Semi-Private office) but also requires occasional travelto off-site work locations;
  • Field duties require outdoor work in a plantor offshore platform atmosphere;
  • Interaction with other team members, as wellas supervisors and client personnel;
  • Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areasaround production machinery with extreme noise levels;
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection;
  • May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes;
  • May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis.
Physical Requirements (With orwithout Reasonable Accommodation): Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds; Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively; Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations; Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties; Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations. #
