Job Description
Responsible for installing and maintaining systems cabling in all County facilities. Work includes preventive maintenance and repair of County data cabling and equipment to include audiovisual, CCTV, access control, panic alarms, and data network. This position may work after normal business hours including on-call. Install and maintain cablings for data networks, access control systems, audiovisual system, and CCTV to include both copper and fiber media. Perform installation, repair, and general maintenance on all forms of electronic equipment cabling in accordance with industry standards. Install and maintain cameras, electronic controls, speakers, and other such electronic devices. Complete work logs, work orders, and various paperwork necessary for documentation of work and services performed in a work order system. Survey systems to gather and report conditions. Provide regular jobs and projects status updates to supervisor. Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials in a safe condition. Assess County needs and acquire equipment and materials for installation and repairs as well as restocking supplies and replacing tools and equipment. Follow all county policies concerning attendance, dress and personal appearance, hazard and alarm, confidentiality, licensing and regulations. Provide after business hours on-call support. Support assigned project implementation to completion. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
High school graduate or equivalent plus at least one year of experience; Able to pass FBI criminal background fingerprint check, and comply with state and federal requirements for criminal justice information security standards.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Maintain a valid Texas Driver's License with safe driving record. Skills in installation copper and fiber cabling. Read and understand electronic diagrams and drawings. Knowledge of Industry Standards. Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to be completed. Effective oral and written communication. Apply safety standards to prevent hazards. Understand and follow instructions. Tolerate outside conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions. Work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers, contractors, and the public. Customer service principles and interpersonal skills. Maintain highest ethical standards, exercising honesty, integrity, and confidentiality. Self-disciplined, dependable, ability to work independently and on a team. Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team goals, objectives and activities. Ability to work the allocated hours of the position, and to report for duty on short notice.PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must have the ability to work in confined spaces such as chases and ceilings, frequently bend, stoop, squat, lie down, crawl, walk, and climb ladders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds, such as tools and equipment, and must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to focus. Employee will be required to work in confinement areas, office buildings, and warehouses with standard incandescent and fluorescent lighting, to handle and properly dispose of hazardous chemicals, and work in areas of loud noise.
