VFD, POC
& Rod Pump Automation Technician to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing variable frequency drives (VFDs), pump-off controllers (POCs), and rod pump automation systems to ensure maximum operational efficiency. Your expertise will drive the success of our automation initiatives, improve equipment reliability, and support our commitment to excellence in industrial maintenance and field service operations. This position supports artificial lift optimization, production enhancement, and SCADA integration activities throughout West Texas, New Mexico, and customer operating areas. Key Responsibilities Installation & Commissioning Install and configure VFDs for rod pumping systems. Install and commission Pump-Off Controllers (POCs). Install load cells, encoders, pressure transducers, and related instrumentation. Configure communication devices and remote telemetry units (RTUs). Perform startup and commissioning of automated rod lift systems. Troubleshooting & Maintenance Diagnose and repair VFD failures. Troubleshoot POC communication issues. Identify electrical, instrumentation, and control system faults. Perform preventive maintenance on automation equipment. Support emergency field call-outs. Production Optimization Analyze dynacards and operational data. Optimize pumping parameters. Adjust control settings to improve efficiency. Assist production engineers with artificial lift optimization. SCADA & Digital Systems Support SCADA integration. Configure wireless communication equipment. Verify data transmission to cloud platforms. Assist with remote monitoring systems. Safety & Documentation Complete JSA and field safety documentation. Prepare field service reports. Maintain calibration records. Report equipment performance issues. Qualifications Technical degree or equivalent field experience. 3+ years in oilfield automation or artificial lift.
Experience with:
VFDs Rod Pump Controllers PLCs SCADA Systems Instrumentation Valid driver's license. Ability to travel frequently. Preferred Experience ChampionX automation systems Lufkin automation Schneider Electric ABB drives Emerson systems
Ignition SCADA Reporting To Operations Manager Pay:
$26.63 - $35.00 per hour
