Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician Orla / Mentone, TX Full-Time Operations DepartmentPOSITION SUMMARY EQV
Operating is seeking a skilled Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to support our upstream operations in the Delaware Basin. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, this role is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, electrical, and automation equipment across the field. The I&E Technician will work closely with operations, SCADA, engineering, and measurement teams to keep production running safely and reliably — and will play a hands-on role in maintaining the assets that drive our business forward.AT A GLANCE

Instrumentation & Controls Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot temperature, level, vibration, and pressure transmitters across field assets Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and RTUs across multiple platforms, including Allen Bradley and Red Lion Troubleshoot 4-20 mA signal loops, Modbus communications, switches, and other control instrumentation Develop and follow maintenance schedules for equipment, parts, and procedures to ensure proper and timely repairs Electrical & Mechanical Systems Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems including VFDs, motors, pumps, switches, pneumatic controls, end devices, and related input / output devices Work safely with power distribution systems, motors, and transformers in field conditions Diagnose issues using meters, transmitters, RTUs, and PLCs, applying sound electrical and electronic principles Coordinate with contractors and vendors on specialized electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation work Communications & SCADA Support Troubleshoot communications equipment including cellular modems, serial radios, gateways, and ethernet radios using a variety of tools and software Communicate regularly with operations, SCADA, engineering, and measurement teams to ensure data integrity from the field Support the broader operations and SCADA team in maintaining reliable telemetry and connectivity across the asset base Safety, Compliance & Reporting Personally accountable for safety — your own, your co-workers', and the contractors and visitors on location Ensure all job duties are carried out with due regard for the environment and in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations Coordinate and document maintenance activities required to maintain operations and regulatory compliance Provide detailed reporting of activities, repairs, and outstanding issues to management on a regular cadence Maintain good housekeeping practices at all work sites Continuous Improvement & Growth Stay current with changing technology through training opportunities, supplier and manufacturer engagement, and industry networking Identify and escalate equipment reliability issues, recurring failures, or opportunities to standardize and improve field practices Take on rotational exposure to adjacent operations and SCADA work to broaden technical expertise over timeREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED 2+ years of experience or training with instrumentation (Allen Bradley & Red Lion), control, and electrical systems Hands-on experience with instrumentation — pressure, level, flow, 4-20 mA signals, Modbus, and switches Hands-on experience with controls — PLCs, PID loop tuning, and RTUs Hands-on experience with electrical systems — power distribution, VFDs, motors, and transformers Demonstrated troubleshooting skills with meters, transmitters, RTUs, and PLCs Working knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and associated safety requirements Proficiency with computers and basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Valid driver's license with an insurable driving recordPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Technical degree or relevant license in instrumentation, electrical, or a related field Electrical Journeyman's License is a plus Prior midstream oil & gas experience, particularly in the Delaware Basin Experience with additional PLC and HMI platforms beyond Allen Bradley and Red Lion Familiarity with SCADA software, historians, and field communications architectureWORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Indoor and outdoor work, with possible exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and gases In performing outside duties, may be exposed to extreme heat or cold climate conditions Must be able to work around various voltage electrical equipment ranging from 24VDC to 4160 VAC Regularly required to sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl and handle large items Must be able to frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Must be able to climb and work at heightsWHAT YOU'LL BRING
