We run a fleet of Prusa FDM 3D printers for production prototyping and small-batch parts. We need a reliable on-call technician who can come on-site to keep our printers running. Printers in Scope This role services Prusa printers only:
  • Prusa MK4
  • Prusa MK4S
  • Prusa Core One If you do not have hands-on experience with these specific Prusa models, this is not the right role for you.
We are not running resin printers, so resin experience is not relevant here. The Role This is a 1099 contract role, not employment. You will be paid hourly for time on-site plus a flat trip fee per visit. Expected workload is roughly 1 to 4 visits per month, scaling up during heavy production runs. Most repairs are completed in a single visit. Typical issues you would diagnose and fix:
  • Failed FDM prints (extrusion, bed adhesion, layer shifts, Z-axis, thermal runaway)
  • Hotend, nozzle, and Nextruder service
  • Belt tensioning, frame squaring, calibration
  • Loadcell and first-layer calibration on
MK4/MK4S
  • Core One CoreXY-specific issues (belt sync, gantry alignment)
  • Electronics, wiring, fans, sensors, basic soldering
  • Firmware flashing and configuration (Prusa firmware, optionally PrusaSlicer profile tuning)
  • Slicer-side diagnosis with PrusaSlicer when the failure is software-related Compensation
  • $50 to $75 per hour on-site, based on experience
  • $50 trip fee per visit
  • Mileage reimbursed beyond 25 miles from site
  • Paid as 1099 contractor; W-9 required Schedule
  • As-needed, on-call
  • Non-urgent issues: 24 to 48 hour response
  • Production-down emergencies: same-day response when available
  • After-hours availability is a plus, not required What You Bring
  • 2+ years hands-on 3D printer repair experience, with direct experience on Prusa MK4, MK4S, or Core One
  • Your own full diagnostic and repair toolkit: multimeter, soldering iron, calipers, hex/torx set, feeler gauges, etc. We do not stock diagnostic equipment on-site.
  • Reliable transportation; able to reach Southlake 76092 within the response windows above
  • Basic electronics, soldering, and firmware flashing skills
  • Ability to read PrusaSlicer output to root-cause print failures Nice to Have
  • Manufacturing or production-environment background
  • Prusa Knowledge Base / community-forum familiarity
  • General liability insurance What We Provide
  • A small inventory of common spare parts (nozzles, hotends, belts, fans, build sheets). Anything beyond what we stock can be invoiced at cost or reimbursed.

You will invoice us per visit (hours + trip fee + parts). Net 7 payment via Zelle, ACH, or check.
