Instrument/Electrical Technician - 260017Z Description We are hiring for an Instrument/Electrical Technician at the Valero Texas City Refinery! See what the job entails below: Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, performs preventative maintenance and maintains full comprehension on the following: Distributed Control System, Programmable Logic Systems, Instrumentation Control Loops. Installs new field equipment tie-ins to the existing DCS system. Reads schematics, loop drawings, and one line drawings and ability to trouble shoot motor control circuits. Ensures all personnel and equipment are working in a safe manner by following established safety guidelines and procedures. Performs electrical repair and provides preventative maintenance services to all refinery operating and project areas as directed by supervision. Informs supervision when electrical projects will require revision or change due to and various reasons. Record all preventative maintenance and repairs completed on equipment. Repairs, maintains, and installs electrical systems and equipment following all safety procedures, electrical codes, manuals, schematic drawings, diagrams, and blueprints. Demonstrates knowledge of basic grounding and shielding, electricity, and electrical wiring and raceway systems. Maintains and repairs various types of electrical components. Uses test equipment, measuring, and alignment tools to perform assigned work tasks. Possesses an advanced knowledge of instrumentation math, units, variables, and dimensions of measurement. Demonstrates knowledge of flow, pressure, temperature, level instrumentation, and control power systems. Maintains and troubleshoots various types of switches, meters, indicators, temperature sensors, positioners, controllers, and control valves. Uses test equipment and performs routine calibrations. Maintains various instrumentation loops. Demonstrates ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, and wiring schematics. Plans and coordinates work following appropriate work orders, work permits, and safety instructions. Performs work activities in a safe and environmentally sound manner. This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of five (5) years of industrial I/E experience required. Associate degree or technical degree in an electrical or instrumentation field preferred. Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas are preferred: Allen Bradley PLC, Honeywell or Foxboro DCS, and power distribution. Able and willing to work on-site and in-person, required. All successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
