Recognition awards, company events, family events, university discount options, gender pay equality, and additional company perks Sterling Engineering is seeking an Lead Automation Technician to support the repair, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated production assembly systems. This role works closely with manufacturing and maintenance teams to support machine reliability, automation systems, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced production environment.Job Duties :
- Repair, assemble, install, and maintain production assembly machine systems
- Document maintenance activities and assist with machine downtime root-cause troubleshooting
- Assist in creating mechanical and software control code standards
- Troubleshoot and support pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components
- Understand and apply AC/DC theory and electronic circuit schematics
- Work with electronic feedback sensor devices and machine control systems
- Assemble and terminate wiring for control cabinets and machine components
- Troubleshoot electronic safety devices including light curtains, safety relays, emergency stop circuits, and operator input devices
- Create troubleshooting guides, preventative maintenance work instructions, and technical documentation
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma required
- Vocational degree enrollment or related technical training preferred
- 2-3 years of knowledge or experience with electrical and mechanical machine applications
- Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams
- Knowledge of PLCs, ladder logic, and machine control systems
- Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
