Job Description

Position Description :
The Laser Range Specialist will work as part of the Range and Training Management Team supporting and implementing Laser Range Safety while establishing range safety policy and procedures for the evaluation and control of lasers on USMC ranges. Responsibilities include providing graphic representations of Laser Surface Danger Zones (LSDZs) utilizing the Laser Range Management Tool (LRMT) and serving as a technical point of contact to others both internal and external to the Marine Corps and the other Services. Individual will provide Laser Range evaluation and provide formal and informal training as required. Training in the use of Laser range certification procedures, and the use of the GIS based Laser Range Management Tool will be provided. Travel expectations are 20-25% and may include international destinations
Experience Requirements :
Desired Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering or related field of study. 3-5 years of experience with Military ranges, lasers and military operations a plus. Familiarity with the use of GIS a plus Familiarity with RMTK a plus. Aviation experience a plus. Must be able to obtain a SECRET Clearance. Job Requirements Provide support for the planning, programmatic and training implementation, development and management of current and future operational laser range safety (ground & air) policies and programs. Apply GIS-based range laser analysis for LSDZ planning, development, and implementation through the use of the LRMT. Conduct Laser Range surveys and analysis in support of USMC Range certifications. Understand the use of GIS to provide for the display of LSDZ products on range maps. Understand and provide support with GIS instruction/interface expertise to implement the LRMT course of instruction and range use. Plan and coordinate LRMT Program Management Reviews and Configuration Management Working Groups (CMWGs) for the four Services. Develop reports, presentations, charts and spreadsheets in support of RTAM operations incorporating LSDZs as described within various MCOs and documentation, preparing briefing materials and sound cartographic products. Provide LRMT instruction using RTAM laptops on the road to include scheduling, setup, instruction, breakdown, and associated travel planning.
