Clarificion from the agency In order to be eligible for this position you must currently be an Enlisted Member (E1/PV1•E8/MSG) in the Virginia Army Nional Guard OR Not Currently in the Virginia Army Nional Guard but you must be willing and eligible to immediely Join the Virginia Army Nional Guard one of those military ranks. Duties Help As an Optical Instrument Repairer (Title 32), WG-3306-10, you will perform the below duties: Repairs, modifies, overhauls, inspects, troubleshoots, tests, adjusts, and cleans the optics and supporting mechanical and electrical elements of complex panoramic telescopes. These contain offset prism assemblies, fire control instruments and a wide variety of less complex instruments and devices such as transits, theodolites, aiming circles, binoculars, searchlights, gunner's quadrants, compasses, periscopes, telescopes, and mounts, surveying sets, and fire direction sets. Visually inspects optical instrument equipment and operes mechanisms to determine serviceability, damaged or worn parts, and malfunctions. Disassembles equipment; examines for serviceability using precision measuring instruments and special tools; checks lenses and prisms for aberrions; replaces worn or defective parts; reassembles, adjusts, and tests for alignment, collimion, and operions. Interprets and applies special modificions in accordance with prescribed Modificion Work Orders (MWO'S). Inspects, cleans and makes minimal repairs to the more complex optical devices such as ballistic computing range-finders;
L.A.S.E.R.
range finders and designors hermetically sealed, full field coincidence image fire control range-finders; and articuled telescopes containing offset prism assemblies, eyepiece assemblies, articuled joint assemblies and erector assemblies. Refers to a variety of technical manuals to obtain proper setup and testing procedures. Uses special fixtures, testing, and measuring equipment such as telescope and azimuth test fixtures, binocular collimor fixture, surface ple, micrometers, dial indicors, and depth gauges, for adjusting and testing optical instruments and devices. Abides by safety precautions when working with compressors, hoses, and tank testing equipment. Analyzes and tests continuity of electrical circuits by utilizing test equipment such as ohmmeter, voltmeter, and multi-voltage test set. Required to inspect, diagnose, and repair high voltage power sources used with night vision devices, aware of the hazards involved in checking high voltage circuits. Serves as a commodity inspector during technical inspections, Command Maintenance Evaluion Team (COMET) or Maintenance Assistance and (MAIT) Instruction Team. Provides technical advice and assistance to units and field maintenance shops throughout the ste. Troubleshoots and makes on-the-spot corrections, repairs, and adjustments when possible. Instructs unit personnel in the proper operion and maintenance procedures for care, use, adjustment, and storage of equipment being inspected. Performs other duties as assigned. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
: Applicant must have experience or training th has provided you with the ability to apply knowledge of optical theory and construction principles in order to test, repair, align, and collime a variety of complex optical equipment; experience which demonstres the ability to understand and apply instructions, and specificions; and interpret blue prints and diagrams of optical phs and mechanical linkages; experience using hand and power tools common to an optical shop.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Applicant have least 18 months of specialized experience, equivalent to least the WG-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the prive sector, but must demonstre th it is comparable to the WG grade indiced. This experience must include activities such as: Experience or training repairing, rebuilding, overhauling systems and components of optical instrument equipment. Experience in diagnosing malfunction in determining remedy where complex relionships exist among optical systems and supporting mechanical and electrical systems. Experience in the use of a variety of measuring and testing equipment. Experience interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, schemics and work orders.
