Rotating 2-2-3 nights 6:20 pm-6:30 am
Pay:
$26-38 per hour plus 10% shift differentialPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Automation Technician to support the commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automated production equipment. The successful candidate will perform hands-on mechanical, electrical and control-system work to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of PLC/HMI-controlled systems, pneumatic and vision systems, and related machinery. This role focuses on preventative and predictive maintenance, rapid fault diagnosis, and implementing practical solutions to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.

Key ResponsibilitiesPerform routine and emergency maintenance on automated equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system components.

Execute preventative and predictive maintenance tasks to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.

Diagnose and repair PLC and HMI programs, I/O issues, sensors, actuators, and communication networks; implement control-system changes and updates as required.

Troubleshoot and maintain vision inspection systems and associated lighting, cameras, and software.

Carry out mechanical repairs and adjustments using machine shop equipment (drill press, lathe, milling machine, surface grinder) and perform welding repairs (MIG and TIG) when needed.

Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC/HMI documentation.

Support equipment commissioning, calibration, and validation activities for new installations and line changes.

Maintain accurate maintenance records, complete work orders, and recommend spare parts and inventory improvements.

Collaborate with engineering, production, and safety teams to implement continuous improvement projects and implement reliable root-cause corrective actions.

Operate material handling equipment (forklifts) safely to move parts and assemblies as required.

QualificationsExperience with automated manufacturing equipment, including basic PLC troubleshooting and programming.

Experience in injection molding machines is highly preferred.

Working knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies and practices.

Experience with pneumatics, sensors, actuators, and vision inspection systems.

Proven mechanical aptitude and experience using machine shop tools (drill press, lathe, milling machine, surface grinder).Skill with MIG and TIG welding for fixture and repair work.

Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team environment.

Forklift and truck training and the ability to operate equipment safely.
