As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Electrical & Controls Engineer to support and enhance our manufacturing operations in Theodore, Alabama. Position Summary The Electrical & Controls Engineer will play a critical role in maintaining, improving, and optimizing plant electrical systems and automation controls. This position is responsible for designing, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and PLC-based automation systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC platforms, strong troubleshooting skills, and a passion for continuous improvement in a process manufacturing environment. Key ResponsibilitiesControl System Design & Development Design, develop, and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and PLC-based automation systems. Integrate Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs with plant equipment and manufacturing processes. Support system upgrades, modifications, and new equipment installations. Programming & Troubleshooting Program, test, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, and related control systems. Diagnose and resolve electrical and automation issues to minimize downtime. Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams. Process Improvement & Reliability Lead initiatives to improve production efficiency, equipment reliability, and process performance. Identify opportunities for automation improvements and operational optimization. Analyze process data and recommend solutions to improve plant performance. Maintenance & Compliance Develop and support preventive and predictive maintenance programs for electrical and control systems. Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies. Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for equipment failures. Project & Team Collaboration Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams on capital projects and system integrations. Support project planning, commissioning, startup activities, and contractor coordination. Provide technical guidance on automation and electrical system improvements. QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field. Experience with industrial electrical systems and automation controls in a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting:
Allen Bradley PLCs Siemens PLCs Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS). Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, and process controls. Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulatory compliance. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities. Preferred Experience in minerals processing, mining, chemical manufacturing, cement, aggregates, pulp & paper, or other process manufacturing industries. Experience with SCADA, HMI, industrial networking, and system integration. Project management and continuous improvement experience.
