Job Title:
Electrical Engineer Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Prototype & Cable Harness Builder to support the development, assembly, and testing of early‑stage products. This role requires strong hands‑on technical ability, the ability to interpret schematics, and precision in tasks such as wire length measurement, sleeving, shielding, and harness fabrication. Experience reviewing or working with AutoCAD drawings and BOMs is essential for ensuring accurate, high‑quality builds. Responsibilities Build and assemble prototypes based on engineering concepts, sketches, CAD models, and evolving design requirements. Construct, route, and secure cable harnesses using detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, AutoCAD drawings, and work instructions. Review and follow BOMs to ensure correct materials, components, and quantities are used. Accurately measure, cut, and verify wire lengths according to design specifications and tolerances. Perform wire stripping, crimping, soldering, termination, sleeving, and shielding with precision. Apply heat‑shrink, braided sleeving, EMI/RFI shielding, and protective coverings to meet durability and performance requirements. Collaborate with engineering teams to refine prototype designs and provide feedback on manufacturability, documentation, and BOM accuracy. Conduct continuity checks, functional tests, and basic troubleshooting on prototype assemblies. Document build steps, modifications, and issues encountered during prototype development. Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow all safety and quality protocols. Support rapid design iterations by adjusting or rebuilding prototype components as needed. Essential Skills Experience with cable harness and prototype building. Proficient in interpreting schematics and working with AutoCAD drawings. Strong skills in crimping, soldering, and wire termination. Ability to build and assemble 100+ cable harness prototypes over 3-7 years. Experience performing wire stripping, crimping, soldering, termination, sleeving, and shielding. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working from engineering concepts, sketches, CAD models, and evolving design requirements. Ability to construct, route, and secure cable harnesses ranging from 20 to 300+ conductors. Work Environment The work environment is hands-on and collaborative, focusing on developing and testing early-stage products. The role involves working with detailed schematics, CAD models, and AutoCAD drawings. Safety and quality protocols are emphasized, with a clean and organized workspace maintained at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Rio Rico, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
