At Matic, we're on a mission to recapture that lost time, and we're doing it by revolutionizing home robotics. Our first product, also called Matic, is a Wall-E-esque floor cleaning robot. We've built what amounts to "full self-driving in the home" with real-time 3D mapping, adaptive path-tracking, and a precise semantic understanding of the home. Our breakthroughs in spatial AI allow Matic to work reliably in real homes, using only RGB cameras and neural networks running on-device. Privacy First What happens in the home, stays in the home. Our robots are private by design, with all data processing performed by the robot itself, not in the cloud. Our Approach Before the iPhone, consumers adopted several distinct devices; cell phones, PDAs, and portable music players each served a particular need. We believe in a similar progression for home robotics, starting with single-purpose robots and building iteratively toward more complex capabilities over time. Our Culture Matic is a tight-knit and collaborative team, singularly focused on building products our customers will cherish. We're ultra-hardworking people committed to solving tough problems that save precious time and energy. About the role At Matic, our goal is to save people time and energy through automation. Individuals spend, on average, 10+ hours weekly doing mundane tasks in their homes. We are using Level 5 Autonomy and Mobility to reimagine home devices in order to give people this time back. We build and ship great products that solve real problems for real people. Our mission-driven team values learning and curiosity in a high-ownership culture. We're looking for a Electrical Design Engineer to join us on the ground floor, with runway for huge and immediate impact. What you'll do Work on end-to-end design and manufacturing of critical PCBAs in the system Rapid prototyping, component selection, schematic capture, prototype bring-up and debugging, hardware bug tracking, functional verification, and signal characterization Board layout of PCB assemblies including SoCs, microcontrollers, rugged connectors, sensors, power devices, etc. Electromechanical integration through collaboration with mechanical and firmware engineers Develop specifications and accelerated test plans to validate the product for its lifetime Work with CMs to ensure proper production of PCBAs and subassemblies, perhaps also flying out to be on the line as well What we look for Technical degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent 2-4 years of professional electrical design experience on a product (preferably a consumer product) that has shipped in high volume Previous ECAD experience with tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence, or equivalent Experience with common digital protocols including
I2C, SPI, USB, MIPI
