We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design & Controls Engineer to design electrical components, modules, and subsystems that integrate into full system-level solutions. This role combines electrical system design, PLC-based automation, and industrial controls engineering , with a strong emphasis on system interlocking, laser equipment control, and cleanroom/lab automation systems . The engineer will own the full design lifecycle , from requirements definition and feasibility studies through detailed design, prototyping, testing, system integration, and manufacturing handoff. Core ResponsibilitiesElectrical System & Subsystem Design Design electrical components, modules, and subsystems for complex system integration Define system requirements and perform feasibility studies Conduct engineering analysis including: Circuit analysis Timing analysis Thermal / cooling analysis Electrical load analysis Develop conceptual and detailed electrical designs PLC & Controls Automation (CRITICAL FOCUS) Develop and implement PLC-based control systems (NON-NEGOTIABLE) Siemens / Allen-Bradley / Omron (any one acceptable) Design and program ladder logic control systems Develop system interlocking logic for safety and process control Support PLC-driven automation systems for industrial equipment Integrate PLCs with HMI/SCADA
systems for machine control and monitoring System-Level Automation (Key Domain Areas) Support automation of: Laser systems Laser chiller control systems Industrial / cleanroom equipment Ensure seamless integration of electrical, mechanical, optical, and software subsystems Support system-level performance, safety, and reliability Prototyping, Testing & Lab Support Support prototype build, bring-up, debugging, and validation Perform hands-on testing in lab and cleanroom environments Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters Troubleshoot and resolve system-level electrical and control issues Support system commissioning and production readiness System Integration & Cross-Functional Work Collaborate with Mechanical, Optical, Software, Systems, and Manufacturing teams Ensure flawless subsystem and system-level integration Participate in design reviews and technical presentations Support manufacturing handoff and production transition Documentation & Lifecycle Support Develop detailed engineering documentation including: Assembly procedures Test procedures Service manuals Support supplier coordination and procurement of prototype components Work closely with vendors to ensure design compliance Resolve product issues throughout the full product lifecycle Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field 5+ years of experience in electrical design, controls, or industrial automation Strong hands-on experience in PLC programming (MANDATORY) Siemens / Allen-Bradley / Omron (any one acceptable) Strong understanding of: Electrical system design Control systems engineering Ladder logic programming System interlocking Industrial automation systems Experience with lab or cleanroom-based hardware systems Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills Ability to work in cross-functional engineering environments Preferred Qualifications Experience with laser systems or chiller control systems Exposure to industrial automation or precision equipment Familiarity with PLCs across multiple platforms (Siemens + AB + Omron) Experience in system integration and commissioning Understanding of power distribution systems Nice to Have HMI/SCADA
experience Basic FPGA awareness (OrCAD / PSpice / Xilinx / Altera exposure optional from original JD) Industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP) Manufacturing support / production engineering exposure Key Traits Strong ownership of end-to-end system design Hands-on, field-oriented engineering mindset Strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking Comfortable in lab, cleanroom, and production environments Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Ability to manage technical complexity across disciplines About Maxonic:
