Associate Engineer - Instrumentation & Controls Kennedy Jenks Consultants tuition reimbursement, 401(k) United States, California, Sacramento Apr 28, 2026 Kennedy Jenks is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our growing team in one of our many locations across the country. We are looking for a motivated professional with 4+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering for municipal pump stations, water treatment, and wastewater facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to work on impactful infrastructure projects while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team delivering innovative engineering and environmental solutions to clients in the water and industrial sectors. Candidates will be considered in any of our office locations, with the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment balancing home and office work. Key Responsibilities As part of our team, you will work alongside experienced Instrumentation & Controls and Electrical Engineers to support projects from planning and design through construction and startup. This role offers the opportunity to grow technically, contribute to meaningful projects, and build strong client relationships. Support instrumentation and control system design for municipal and industrial infrastructure projects Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams to develop high-quality engineering solutions Assist with the development of control strategies and instrumentation layouts for water and wastewater facilities Contribute to SCADA system architecture and design efforts, including feasibility studies and cost estimates Develop and review technical documents including control narratives, instrumentation specifications, and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Participate in field investigations, site visits, and construction support activities Coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal teams throughout project delivery Support QA/QC reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and processes Qualifications 4+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering, preferably in consulting engineering for water, wastewater, or industrial infrastructure projects Experience supporting the design of instrumentation and control systems for pump stations, treatment facilities, or similar infrastructure projects Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, control strategies, and instrumentation systems Experience developing or supporting P&IDs and control system documentation Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field EIT certification preferred; PE license or progress toward licensure is a plus Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment Kennedy Jenks supports a healthy work-life balance and utilizes a hybrid model of home and office work to empower our people to thrive and achieve their full potential.

Irvine, CA Salary Range:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $110,000-$153,000 annually and may vary based on education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
