Malin Space Science Systems (MSSS) is a private technology company that designs, develops and operates space camera systems for government and commercial aerospace customers and provides services in spacecraft instrument operations and space science research. We are offering a unique Engineering Internship program that provides college students an opportunity to work alongside experts in their field. Interns will engage with a multidisciplinary team working on space camera systems for demanding missions. Interns will be mentored by professionals in their discipline, gaining hands-on experience and technical growth. Opportunity
Hands-on Experience:
Work directly on real-world space mission projects.
Skill Development:
Gain experience in engineering design, testing, and troubleshooting, while developing professional presence and technical expertise.
Mentorship:
Be mentored by industry professionals who will guide your technical and career development.
Final Presentation:
Interns will showcase their work and accomplishments in a final presentation to the Camera Systems Group. Essential Functions
Support the design, testing, and integration of space camera systems for planetary and interplanetary missions.
Contribute to projects that support flight programs, internal research and development (IRAD), or improve production and test capabilities.
Work directly with a mentor from your discipline and report to the Managing Engineer.
Complete project-focused tasks with defined educational goals and deliverables.
Participate in weekly progress check-ins and provide a final presentation on your work. Non-Essential Functions

Current enrollment in Electrical Engineering program in a 4-year institution.
Linux and PC literacy required.
Familiarity with Python and VHDL required.
Solid experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Basic math and strong written and oral communication skills required.
Must be detail oriented and dependable with strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.

Ability to handle high stress levels in connection with multiple conflicting priorities and deadlines. High tolerance for ambiguity and shifting expectations. We are offering a unique Engineering Internship position that provides an opportunity to work within our Micro Mission Systems (MMS) group. The Intern will engage with a small multidisciplinary team and will focus on flight hardware integration and testing support (including preparation for environmental testing). The Intern will be mentored by professionals, gaining hands-on experience and technical growth. Opportunity

Gain experience in engineering design, testing, and troubleshooting, while developing professional presence and technical expertise.Mentorship:
Be mentored by industry professionals who will guide your technical and career development. Essential Functions- Cleans the Ka Flat Panel antennas from the post painting residue. Picks tiny flecks of paint off the antennas and gently cleans the residue adhesives used to mask the part during painting using lint free Q-tips.
- Maintains lab conditions, tools and supplies to support operations. Ensures the floors and benches are kept clean, waste bins emptied and hand tools and cables are put away and organized at regular intervals.
- Cleans and trims prototype parts created via 3D printers including electronics shielding, minor brackets, and fit test models.
- Removes structural supports, prints artifacts and sands, smooths and cleans parts as needed.
- Assembles small fixtures or mechanical aides as needed per engineering direction.
- Prior to entering the cleanroom unescorted, receive training in the fundamentals of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). Non-Essential Functions

Malin Space Science Systems (MSSS) is a private technology company that designs, develops and operates space camera systems for government and commercial aerospace customers and provides services in spacecraft instrument operations and space science research. As a member of our multidisciplinary space imaging systems design team, the Flight Assembly Technician is responsible for high-level assembly of prototype and spaceflight electronics under the direction of Production Supervisor or Production Management. Essential Functions Assembles electronic, mechanical, optical, and cable harness assemblies by following detailed work instructions and applicable NASA and IPC workmanship standards. Maintains detailed assembly records. Assists hardware engineering in assembly of prototype electronics and cable harnesses, testing, troubleshooting, and mechanical integration. Maintains all required NASA trainings and recertifications. Performs ESD check-in on a daily basis. Cross-trains in assembly disciplines to support all aspects of work completion. Participates in team meetings and provides updates on work status. Maintains work area, tools and equipment. Performs required maintenance as needed. Prior to entering assembly, test, storage or development areas within the Camera Systems Group unescorted, receive initial and ongoing annual training in the fundamentals of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). Non-Essential Functions Travels to customers and/or vendors as required. Performs other duties as required or requested which may become essential to this position. Minimum Qualifications High-School Graduate / GED required. Some college or Trade School / ROP certification desired. Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience. Excellent hand soldering, cable harness assembly, mechanical assembly, documentation, organization, and communication skills.
