Electrical Engineer AEI-CIG Santa Clara, CA Job Details $105,000 - $180,000 a year 7 hours ago Qualifications Communications systems expertise (engineering specialty) Laboratory experience Schematic development for electrical drafting Electrical engineering training Printed circuit board (PCB) layout Telecommunications testing equipment Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to design and develop high-speed optical transceiver hardware for next-generation data communication systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in high-speed digital and mixed-signal design, signal integrity, and optical module development (e.g., SFP, QSFP, OSFP). This role involves full product lifecycle ownership from architecture through validation and production. Key Responsibilities Design and develop high-speed optical transceiver modules (e.g., SFP+, QSFP28, QSFP-DD, OSFP) Perform schematic capture and oversee multilayer PCB layout for high-speed designs Conduct signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analysis for high-speed channels (NRZ/PAM4) Simulate high-speed links using industry tools and validate performance in lab environments Debug and troubleshoot hardware issues during bring-up and validation phases Perform compliance testing according to industry standards (e.g., IEEE 802.3, MSA specifications) Collaborate with cross-functional teams including firmware, mechanical, optical, and manufacturing engineers Support product qualification, manufacturing, and yield improvement efforts Generate detailed design documentation, test plans, and reports Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field Strong understanding of high-speed interfaces (10G/25G/50G/100G/400G+) Experience with signal integrity concepts: impedance control, jitter, crosstalk, insertion/return loss Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscope, BERT, VNA, TDR) Experience with PCB design and schematic tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence Allegro) Familiarity with communication protocols such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, MDIO Preferred Qualifications Experience with PAM4 signaling and advanced modulation schemes Familiarity with optical components (lasers, photodiodes, TIAs, DSPs) Experience with simulation tools (e.g., Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS) Knowledge of thermal design and high-density module packaging Scripting or programming skills (Python, MATLAB) for automation and analysis Experience with compliance and interoperability testing Key Skills High-speed digital and mixed-signal design Signal and power integrity analysis Hardware debugging and problem-solving Cross-functional collaboration Attention to detail and documentation
