This role will contribute to products across Energy Generators, Lung Health, and GYN platforms within a regulated medical device environment. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in mixed-signal board design, medical device compliance, IEC 60601 safety standards, and hands-on hardware debugging and validation. This engineer will also mentor junior engineers and collaborate cross-functionally to drive high-quality product development from concept through verification and sustaining engineering. Duties Lead and contribute to the design, development, maintenance, and testing of mixed-signal electrical systems and PCB assemblies for medical devices. Design and develop electrical architectures, schematics, and PCB layouts using OrCAD schematic capture and PCB design tools. Perform component selection, circuit analysis, design verification, and system integration activities. Develop detailed technical specifications, design documentation, and verification plans. Ensure designs comply with applicable regulatory and safety standards, including
IEC 60601-1.
Conduct standards-based testing, regulatory assessments, and hardware validation activities. Support replacement of obsolete components including redesign analysis, testing, and regulatory impact assessments. Utilize laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and network analyzers for debugging, integration, and validation testing. Investigate customer complaint trends, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend design improvements while maintaining product requirements. Participate in technical project planning, schedule development, risk mitigation, and deliverable tracking. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical, systems, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, and software engineering teams. Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers in hardware development and best engineering practices. Support agile product development activities within a regulated medical device environment. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience ORMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience Strong experience with all phases of mixed-signal board design, including: System architecture Circuit design Schematic capture Component selection PCB layout Design verification Proficiency with OrCAD schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
Strong understanding of:
Signal integrity Frequency domain analysis Circuit analysis Electrical systems fundamentals Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation including: Oscilloscopes Digital multimeters Logic analyzers Network analyzers Experience designing and testing medical devices in a regulated industry. Working knowledge of
IEC 60601-1
electrical safety standards and verification testing. Experience with hardware verification, debugging, reliability testing, and root-cause analysis. Ability to work effectively in an agile development environment. Strong communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting surgical or therapeutic medical devices. Familiarity with Energy Generators, Lung Health, or GYN product platforms. Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems. Prior experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring junior engineers. Experience supporting sustaining engineering and product lifecycle activities.
