Our team of multidisciplinary experts is seeking a mid-level Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer who will utilize their design expertise to dream big ideas on various and complex water and wastewater utility projects. We will rely on your collaboration skills to lead our team members, and coordinate interdisciplinary work between teammates, for both local and remote projects. You will be taking the lead with generating and reviewing I&C drawings, specifications, and approving vendor submittals for us to ensure the solid relationship our clients have come to expect from Jacobs. You'll also assist in a proactive manner on internal as well as external business opportunities. As an I&C Engineer at our Denver office, where we execute exciting and challenging projects throughout the region, you will be bringing your curiosity, talent for multitasking and collaboration, and extreme organizational skills - and we'll help you grow, pursue, and fulfill what drives you! You will work alongside project teams to perform the following tasks:
  • Utilize PLC control systems, SCADA systems, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software to effectively design and implement instrumentation and control systems for water/wastewater projects.
  • Provide programming support for our clients in our local office and at client sites.
  • Design and troubleshoot SCADA and Operational Technology networks including PLCs, servers/workstation, network switches and firewalls.
  • Prepare design specifications and drawings, write control system descriptions, perform startup and commissioning activities.
  • Conduct site visits and testing and make recommendations for control systems improvements and designs.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines on projects to design and incorporate equipment, process, and facility control concepts.
  • Collaborate on proposals and contribute to client relationships and business development efforts.
  • Select and troubleshoot field process instruments.
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and work in a fast-paced consulting environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Drive ownership of health & safety in all aspects of project execution, office and personal environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college/university.
  • 3+ years of experience in I&C selection, design and integration; PLC control systems; P&ID and I/O list development; PLC equipment list development; control system architecture development including control panel layout and wiring; detailed loop wiring diagrams; SCADA systems and networks.
  • Experience with MCC and VFD requirements; industrial PLC programming and hardware implementation, including Allen Bradley SLC, MicroLogix, CompactLogic, ControlLogix; Modicon; Schneider Electric (Quantum, M580); and Siemens.
  • HMI experience: Rockwell Software (Factory Talk View ME/SE, Components, Historian), Inductive Automation (Ignition SCADA software), etc.
  • Networking experience: EtherNet/IP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP etc.
  • Experience in startup and commissioning of SCADA systems, including troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques to maintain high availability of SCADA systems.
  • Experience in water and wastewater treatment process automation.
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E) and professional goal to obtain P.E. license.
  • Ability to mentor, train, and delegate work to others.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam and Acrobat PDF.
