This position supports capital projects, system studies, equipment specifications, outage response, regulatory compliance, and long-range infrastructure strategies to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of electric service. This is a senior-level engineer who leads complex studies and projects, provides technical oversight, and serves as a subject matter resource for Energy Delivery engineering initiatives. May undefill based on experience. Examples of Work Designs and develops Energy Delivery infrastructure projects, feeders, protection schemes, voltage conversion projects, line extensions, and system upgrades. Performs engineering analyses and power system studies, including load flow, voltage drop, fault current, relay coordination, arc flash, reliability, and contingency assessments. Prepares and reviews construction packages, including drawings, specifications, bills of material, switching plans, and cost estimates. Supports system reliability and resilience efforts by identifying capacity constraints, aging infrastructure risks, and opportunities for modernization. Provides technical support during outages and emergencies, including root cause analysis, restoration strategies, and corrective action recommendations. Coordinates with operations, field crews, system control, and contractors to ensure constructability, safety, and operational readiness of projects. Develops equipment and material standards for transformers, breakers, conductors, protective devices, underground systems, and smart grid technologies. Ensures compliance with applicable standards and regulations, including NESC, IEEE, OSHA, environmental requirements, and internal utility standards. Manages project schedules, budgets, and engineering deliverables for assigned capital and maintenance projects. Leads or supports continuous improvement initiatives, including system automation, distributed energy integration, GIS/model accuracy, and asset management programs. Serves as lead engineer for major projects and complex technical issues, and mentors lower-level engineers. Influences long-term infrastructure strategy, reliability initiatives, and engineering best practices. Examples of Work (continued) Will be required to respond under emergency conditions. Performs other related duties as assigned. May act in absence of supervisor. Education A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is required. Candidates with other engineering degrees and relevant distribution system experience may also be considered Experience At least six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in electric utility engineering including experience leading complex capital projects, advanced system studies, and technical standards development. Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across the department. OR an equivalent combination of education or experience.
