Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Electrical Instructor to inspire and educate the next generation of skilled tradespeople. In this role, you will deliver engaging instruction across a broad spectrum of electrical topics, including electrical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), HVAC/R systems, automotive diagnostics, plumbing, welding, and maintenance. Your expertise will help students develop practical skills and theoretical understanding necessary for careers in manufacturing, construction, aircraft maintenance, and other technical fields. Duties Deliver comprehensive classroom instruction on electrical principles, circuitry, safety standards (including OSHA regulations), and industry best practices. Develop and update curriculum materials to ensure alignment with current industry standards and technological advancements. Facilitate hands-on training in areas such as electrical wiring, mechanical systems, HVAC/R systems, automotive repair diagnostics, plumbing, welding, and maintenance tasks. Instruct students on the operation and troubleshooting of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation equipment. Assess student progress through tests, practical demonstrations, and project evaluations; provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement. Ensure all training activities adhere to safety protocols and OSHA standards to promote a secure learning environment. Incorporate industry-relevant tools such as Blackboard or other learning management systems to enhance instructional delivery and student engagement. Support adult education principles by tailoring teaching methods to diverse learner needs and experience levels. Collaborate with colleagues to develop new courses or refine existing programs in areas like automotive diagnostics, HVAC/R systems, electrical maintenance, or manufacturing processes. Experience Proven classroom teaching experience in electrical or related technical fields is essential; prior experience in adult education is highly desirable. Strong mechanical knowledge across various trades including HVAC/R systems, automotive repair, plumbing, welding, and general maintenance. Hands-on experience with electrical systems installation, troubleshooting, and repair within industrial or commercial settings. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), automation technology, and industry-standard safety regulations such as OSHA. Knowledge of curriculum development processes to create engaging lesson plans that meet educational standards and industry needs. Experience working in manufacturing environments or construction sites is preferred; exposure to aircraft maintenance or HVAC systems is a plus. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly while fostering a motivating learning atmosphere for adult learners.
