BAS Controls Engineer Lawrenceville, GA Full-TimeOn-Site$90,000 - $110,000 /yr Posted May 21, 2026 BAS Controls Engineer Position Overview We are seeking a skilled BAS (Building Automation Systems) Controls Engineer to design, program, commission, and support building automation and HVAC control systems. The role focuses on implementing reliable, energy-efficient controls using Niagara frameworks and industry standards like BACnet, collaborating with engineering teams and contractors to deliver high-quality solutions for commercial and institutional facilities. Key Responsibilities Design, program, and configure BAS and HVAC control systems using Niagara (AX, N4) platforms and related tools. Develop, test, and troubleshoot BACnet integrations and device communications across HVAC, lighting, and other building systems. Create control sequences, graphics, and system documentation, including functional descriptions, I/O schedules, and commissioning plans. Perform site surveys, system start-ups, commissioning, and functional performance testing to ensure systems meet design intent and performance targets. Collaborate with mechanical/electrical engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to integrate controls into facility systems and resolve field issues. Monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance to improve energy efficiency and occupant comfort. Provide technical support, training, and documentation for operations and maintenance teams. Maintain project schedules, review submittals, and ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry best practices. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of hands-on experience with building automation systems, HVAC controls, and on-site commissioning. Proven experience with Niagara platform (AX or N4) for programming and system integration. Strong knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, and other building communications protocols. Familiarity with HVAC equipment, sensors, actuators, VAVs, chillers, boilers, and fan systems. Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings, I/O lists, and control schematics. Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams. Excellent communication skills and experience providing technical training and documentation. Relevant certifications (e.g., Niagara ACE, Certified Energy Manager, or vendor-specific controls certifications) are a plus.
