You'll support design tasks such as fire alarm and evacuation, smoke detection, VESDA, gas detection, toxic gas sensors, and leak detection systems. You will be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, while participating in design reviews and ensuring life safety systems meet code and operational requirements. You will have opportunity to grow technical expertise with exposure to multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
As an Associate level engineer, you'll support and lead elements of the full project lifecycle, including: Design and engineer fire alarm, detection, suppression, gas detection, smoke control, and other life safety systems Apply applicable codes and standards (IBC, IFC, NFPA, NEC, Life Safety Codes) to develop compliant and constructible designs Produce calculations, equipment sizing, system layouts, specifications, and construction documents in 2D and 3D formats Develop and review BIM models using AutoCAD and Revit MEP in coordination with architects and other engineering disciplines Support Engineer of Record responsibilities and progressively take ownership of technical scope on assigned projects Interface directly with clients, vendors, and local/state code officials Review vendor submittals and ensure alignment with project specifications and client requirements Participate in field activities and provide support during construction, commissioning, and startup as required Manage multiple concurrent tasks while meeting project quality, scope, and schedule expectations Collaborate with senior engineers and mentor junior staff as part of your professional growth Support compliance with safety, operational, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
A successful candidate will need: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems. 5+ years of experience in fire alarm life safety systems engineering. Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit MEP Working knowledge of
IBC, IFC, NFPA 72
- Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, NFPA 101 - Life Safety Code, NFPA 70 (NEC) Experience designing or supporting fire alarm and detection systems, including VESDA or similar aspirating systems Understanding of construction documents, specifications, and coordination processes Strong written and verbal communication skills Ideally, you'll also have: Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience with additional NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 13, 75, 76, 2001, 400) Familiarity with Edwards EST3 and EST4 Fire Alarm Control Systems Experience reviewing vendor submittal packages against client requirements and specifications Experience with Gas detection, HPM systems, leak detection, smoke modeling or fire dynamics concepts. Experience with security, CCTV, or low voltage systems. Field experience interacting with subcontractors and construction personnel Experience related to semiconductor fabrication facilities
Additional Details:
This is an on-site position requiring work to be performed on the client site in Boise, ID. Requires field mobility including walking long distances, climbing ladders, working in tight spaces and lifting up to 25 lbs. Travel may be required.
