Job Description
Hydraulic Systems EngineerA growing engineering organization is seeking a Hydraulic Systems Engineer with a strong technical background in designing, analyzing, and optimizing hydraulic systems for test and industrial equipment. This role includes circuit design, component selection, system testing, troubleshooting, and use of CAD tools.
Experience:
5+ years preferredThe successful candidate will contribute across multiple projects and possess a diverse engineering skill set.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Development:
Create hydraulic schematics and design circuits for machinery and test systemsPerformance Optimization:
Perform modeling, calculations, and simulations to optimize pressure, flow, and efficiencyComponent Selection:
Select, test, and validate pumps, valves, cylinders, and motorsTroubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve hydraulic system failures to minimize downtimeDocumentation:
Maintain technical documentation, including BOMs, schematics, and test reportsCollaboration:
Work closely with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and production teams to integrate systemsQualifications & SkillsProven experience in hydraulic system design, particularly for industrial or high-pressure applicationsProficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, closed-loop systems, and proportional controlStrong analytical and troubleshooting capabilitiesExperience with PLC programming or electro-hydraulic controls (preferred)Software ToolsAutoCADSolidWorks (preferred)General SkillsStrong organizational and communication skillsDetail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilityAbility to work in multidisciplinary team environmentsMechanical and/or structural experience (preferred)Experience estimating and quoting projectsAbility to provide onsite supportFamiliarity with FMEA, design reviews, and code complianceSimilar jobs in Peoria Heights, IL
