Job Description

Automation and Controls EngineerAn engineering organization is seeking an Automation and Controls Engineer with a broad technical background that includes
PLC/HMI/SCADA
programming, robotics, hardware selection and integration, and the use of CAD tools.
Experience:
5+ years preferredThis role involves participation in multiple project teams and requires a wide-ranging technical skill set across controls, electrical design, and system integration.

Electrical DesignElectrical system design for industrial automation applicationsSelection and specification of control system hardware and software componentsCreation of electrical schematics2D control panel layout and documentationControls EngineeringDevelopment of PLC and
HMI/SCADA
programs to control machinery and industrial processesIntegration of sensors and actuatorsUse of industrial communication protocols, including CAN and SSIExperience with hydraulic control systemsUnderstanding of control theory, including PID tuning and stability considerationsFamiliarity with a variety of controls platforms and hardwareComponent selection and bill of materials (BOM) developmentPower distribution designIntegration with industrial and collaborative robotic systemsSoftware and ToolsExperience with
CODESYS, RMC
Tools, and EPLANAutoCAD ElectricalSolidWorks experience is a plusGeneral QualificationsStrong organizational and communication skillsAttention to detail with solid analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environmentMechanical and/or structural experience is a plusExperience with project estimating and quotingAbility to provide on-site technical supportParticipation in FMEA activities and design reviewsFamiliarity with applicable electrical codes and regulatory requirements
