Data Acquisition Hardware Engineer Location:
Lafayette , IN Full time (Test Lab Environment) Key Responsibilities Support and maintain data acquisition hardware systems used in product testing and validation activities. Build, modify, and troubleshoot electrical wiring harnesses and test equipment kits. Interpret electrical schematics and translate them into functional wiring and hardware assemblies. Perform hands-on electrical work including wiring, soldering, connector installation, and electrical troubleshooting. Utilize electrical tools and instruments such as multimeters, drills, and related lab equipment. Support CAN-based communication systems including
CAN J1939, CAN
CCP, and serial communication protocols. Assist with hardware setup, integration, and debugging activities in a testing laboratory environment. Collaborate daily with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional team members to support ongoing testing activities. Maintain organized documentation related to hardware builds, configurations, and troubleshooting activities. Support continuous improvement efforts for data acquisition and testing systems. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline. Minimum 5 years of relevant hands-on engineering or hardware support experience. Internship experience may be considered if combined with: Minimum 2 years in an electrical-focused internship role Plus 3 years of professional industry experience Strong hands-on electrical and hardware troubleshooting experience. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and create wiring harness assemblies.
Experience with:
Wiring and soldering Multimeters and electrical tools Hardware assembly and kit builds
CAN J1939 CAN CCP
Serial bus communication systems Strong organizational and task prioritization skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in testing laboratories or validation environments. Experience supporting data acquisition systems for heavy equipment, automotive, mining, transportation, or industrial applications. Familiarity with electrical test equipment and instrumentation. Exposure to embedded systems or electronic control modules (ECMs).
