Electrical Engineer

Miftek is a Purdue Research Park company that designs state of the art instrumentation for life science and diagnostics. This rapidly expanding company has been awarded several key patents in the fields of cytometry, spectroscopy, and photonics. We are now developing a novel solution for single cell analysis. Our facility located in West Lafayette has easy access to campus, shopping, and downtown. Role A full-time Electrical Engineer will be integral to developing our newest technology to the point of commercialization. They will contribute to the planning, design, and testing of advanced hardware platforms that meet the high standards of performance required to compete in our industry. In this startup environment, they will have the opportunity to branch out and develop a broad skill set. Responsibilities Implement sensing, controls, power, and other types of electronics within our instruments Design PCBs in Altium Designer incorporating MCUs, PLDs, serial comms, ADCs, and power Assist in the testing and bring-up of new hardware Integrate electronics into our existing electronic, optical, and mechanical platforms Improve the performance of existing designs in terms of bandwidth, SNR, reliability, etc. Proactively identify requirements and critical issues in our electronics designs Help coordinate manufacturing, electronic component sourcing Participate in design review for all aspects of our electronics Qualifications BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree 4+ years of professional experience is ideal Able to design, simulate, prototype, and troubleshoot electronic circuits Demonstrable experience with producing PCB board level designs (schematic and/or layout) Able to work cohesively with electrical, firmware, and mechanical teams Able to gain a deep understanding of our core technology Experience in any of the following areas is a plus, but is not required: Photonics (lasers, LEDs, photodidoes), Electromechanical, FPGA, RF design, Physical simulation Employees of Miftek receive competitive salaries, full health coverage, 401k, and excellent leave, as well as opportunities to attend technology conferences.
