Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Manager, System Protection Engineering and/or Sr Manager TS Engineering, the engineer will perform engineering design related to electric substations, transmission lines, generation equipment control systems, and fault protection systems. The role involves working closely with System Protection Engineers to develop P&C designs and support reliability and safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform design work related to electric substations, transmission lines, and generation equipment control systems Design protective relay systems, metering, and SCADA systems Specify substation equipment including breakers, transformers, relay panels, capacitor banks, reactor banks, etc. Gather and analyze system ratings such as voltage, ampacity, impedance, CT ratios, and relay settings Prepare project scopes, bills of material, and cost estimates Support operations and construction teams with troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and technical analysis Prepare and review technical drawings and specifications Review and redline substation and transmission protection/control drawings
Mandatory Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program Utility experience related to substations, generation, transmission line equipment control, and fault protection systems preferred Understanding of schematic, wiring, and logic diagrams Knowledge of generation, transmission, and distribution system relays and protection schemes Ability to develop elementary drawings, relay logic, and relay settings Strong communication, organization, and multitasking abilities
