Job Description
Director of Electrical Engineering Required Years of Experience:

Works under minimal supervision fromSenior Company Management General Description:
Expected to be an expert in his/her field. Has excellent understanding of how his/her discipline interacts within projects, company, and clients. Manages and coordinates activities of department. Coordinates scheduling requirements of projects, assigns personnel, determines personnel needed with most appropriate individual qualities. Ensures quality, accuracy, and completeness of departmental work, compliance with established standards, procedures, and codes, and that deadlines are met. Provides training, technical guidance, and instruction to personnel within department. Reviews timesheets of department personnel. Manages hiring, performance appraisal, salary recommendations, and employee development. Develops departmental policies, technical standards, and procedures. Assists in development and coordination of interdepartmental policies, procedures, and standards. Is expected to function as Senior Engineer 6 as necessary to meet project requirements, project schedules, and company goals.Management Expectations:
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, delivering clear presentations to clients and internal teams Represent the company in client meetings and internal discussions as needed Exercise strong judgment in project and design decisions, with collaboration from senior leadership when appropriate Supervise departmental staff, including assigning projects and managing team workloads Lead and manage large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects while overseeing multiple projects simultaneously Mentor and support the development of design staff, serving as a resource for technical and design-related guidance Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular interaction and engagement Actively contribute to business development efforts and client growth initiativesProduction of Construction Documents:
Construction Documents:
Expected to produce construction documents utilizing Revit and/or AutoCAD as necessary so department can meet project deadlines and company goals.Specifications:
Expected to edit specification sections for assigned projects. Shall assist in producing a company "Master Set" of specifications.Codes:
Expected to have an excellent understanding and knowledge of applicable codes. Shall research non-routine code issues and obtain interpretations from Code Officials.Project Schedules and Budgets:
Ultimately responsible for the completion of all projects within his/her department within the budgeted hours. Helps determine the budgeted hours for projects.Studies:
Performs engineering studies and schematic design for new systems. Able to analyze operation of existing systems. Expected to provide Design Narratives of his/her discipline on projects.Meetings:
Attends in-house meetings as required, regardless of location and/or time of day.Reports :
Expected to produce reports and evaluations on projects and prospective projects as assigned.Quality Control:
Expected to review his/her own as well as work within his/her department to ensure quality of drawings and specifications on assigned projects.Software:
Expected to be proficient in Revit and software that applies to his/her discipline (i.e., EasyPower, Visual or AGI 32, Comcheck, Cummins PowerSuite).Construction Administration:
Submittals:
Expected to check project submittals for compliance with construction documents. Requests forInformation:
Expected to review and respond to RFI's on assigned projects. Shall assist staff in RFI responses.Job Site Visits:
Expected to visit job site to monitor construction progress. Expected to provide Site Observation Report in a timely manner following site visit.Organization:
Expected to work within Department's file structure so work and files are organized and easily accessed by others. Expected to assist in project archiving.Overtime Expectations:
Expected to work the hours required to meet deadlines and accomplish the work assigned, regardless of an 8-hour day. Typical overtime range expected to be approximately 5-10%.Travel:
Expected to travel as necessary to support needs of project, department, or company. Also travels as needed for business development or program support.Job Type:
