Contract/Long-Term Job Description We are seeking an experienced Electrical Unit Member (UM) / Designated Engineering Representative (DER) to support aircraft electrical systems certification and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of FAA regulations, aircraft electrical systems design, certification processes, and aviation industry standards. Key Responsibilities Support FAA certification activities for aircraft electrical and avionics systems. Review, approve, and validate engineering data, drawings, and certification documentation. Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, airworthiness requirements, and industry standards. Perform electrical system analysis, testing, verification, and validation. Coordinate with engineering, certification, manufacturing, and regulatory teams. Develop certification plans, compliance reports, and technical documentation. Evaluate design changes and provide certification guidance throughout the product lifecycle. Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews. Assist in resolving technical issues related to electrical systems and certification. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. 4 7+ years of experience in aircraft electrical systems, avionics, or aerospace certification. Experience working as an FAA Unit Member (UM) or Designated Engineering Representative (DER). Strong knowledge of FAA certification processes and regulations. Familiarity with aircraft electrical power generation, distribution, wiring, and avionics systems. Experience preparing certification documentation and compliance reports. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications FAA DER authorization or previous UM experience. Knowledge of FAR Part 23, Part 25, DO-160, DO-178, and related aerospace standards. Experience with commercial or business aircraft programs. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering and regulatory teams.
