Senior Electrical EngineerPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the analysis, design, and delivery of highreliability electrical systems for transmission, distribution, substations, and power generation projects. The role focuses on voltage system studies, switchgear specification and selection, protection and control coordination, and integration with
Key ResponsibilitiesLead electrical design for transmission and distribution projects including substations, switchgear, and interconnection equipment.
Perform voltage regulation, short-circuit, load flow, protection coordination, and relay settings studies using industry tools.
Specify and select power switchgear, transformers, breakers, and ancillary equipment; prepare equipment schedules and procurement packages.
Develop singleline diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and conduit/cable schedules; review and approve vendor drawings.
Integrate and coordinate PLC and SCADA systems for monitoring and control of generation and distribution assets.
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards such as NESC and NFPA; prepare documentation required for permitting and utility interconnections.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering staff; review work products and support professional development.
Coordinate with project managers, clients, civil and mechanical teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget; attend client meetings and support construction phase activities including commissioning and troubleshooting.
Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, engineering calculations, and construction support documentation.
Support business development activities by developing technical proposals, scopes of work, and statements of qualification.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (required); Masters degree preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred or ability to obtain licensure.4+ years of progressive experience in electrical power engineering with demonstrable work on transmission, distribution, substation, or power plant projects.
Demonstrated expertise in voltage analysis, switchgear specification, protection and control coordination, and power system modeling.
Proficient with power system analysis and drafting tools (examples: ETAP, SKM, CYME, PSS/E, AutoCAD, MicroStation).Experience integrating PLC and SCADA systems for power generation and distribution control.
Familiarity with utility interconnection processes, relay testing, commissioning, and operations of power generators.
Strong knowledge of NESC, NFPA, and other relevant codes and standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing technical reports and client deliverables.
Proven ability to lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Nice to have: prior experience specifically as an Electrical Engineer in power plants, substation design, power generation facilities, protection relays, and experience with professional certifications or training in relevant standards.
