Job Description
Job Title:
Electrical Engineer - Laser & Medical Devices (Contract) Overview The Systems Engineer will support the design, integration, testing, and validation of laser-based systems used in medical device applications. This role focuses on final system integration, controls software, hardware troubleshooting, and documentation to support customer-site installation and regulatory compliance. The position is fully onsite and contract-based. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain laser-based systems for medical device applications. Lead system integration and final completion of hardware and embedded software to meet customer safety and performance requirements. Develop prototypes and process improvements with a focus on transitioning designs to production. Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize existing hardware configurations. Learn and apply G-Code and DMC software for motion control and automation systems. Perform system-level testing, validation, and optimization prior to customer deployment. Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including system requirements, design specifications, test readiness reviews (TRRs), and acceptance testing reports. Ensure compliance withISO 13485, FDA
software validation, andIEC 62304
medical device software lifecycle standards. Stay current with relevant technologies and make recommendations for future system enhancements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sensors, actuators, embedded firmware, and communication interfaces.Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of systems engineering experience in medical devices or other regulated industries. Hands-on experience with embedded systems development (C/C++ and Python).Technical Skills:
PCB design and hardware integration. Experience with microcontrollers, RTOS, and communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C). Strong understanding of regulated development environments and design controls. Work Environment Fully onsite, 5 days per week. Work closely with the R D Engineering team, including direct collaboration with leadership. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Halethorpe, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $58.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
