Job Title:
Electrical Engineer Job Description The Electrical Engineer designs, develops, tests, and implements electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery for industrial applications. This role focuses on building, wiring, programming, and testing both simple and complex control systems using relay logic, HMIs, programmable relays, VFDs, and a variety of digital and mechanical process switching and instrumentation technologies. The engineer splits time between executing work assigned by the Electrical Lead and supporting production by troubleshooting control system issues, while also helping to build and maintain an organized electrical component library to streamline future system designs. This position offers the opportunity to become a technical expert on control systems within a growing organization. Responsibilities Design and develop electrical control systems tailored to specific project and customer requirements. Build, wire, program, and test both simple and complex electrical control systems using relay logic, HMIs, programmable relays, VFDs, and instrumentation technologies. Utilize components and platforms from manufacturers such as IDEC, Allen-Bradley, IFM, Schneider Electric, Eaton, and IMO in control system designs. Support standard and custom work order processing by translating customer specifications into clear internal manufacturing requirements. Troubleshoot electrical control systems and support the production area in resolving issues that arise during manufacturing and testing. Create, organize, and maintain an electrical component library to ensure designs and documentation are easily accessible for new systems. Collaborate closely with engineering, sales, vendors, project managers, contractors, field representatives, and customers to ensure successful implementation of electrical designs. Provide support for training, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities related to electrical control systems. Read and interpret work orders, manuals, specifications, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings to guide design and build activities. Perform electromechanical assembly tasks as needed to support control system integration with industrial equipment. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or an Associate degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical for creating and modifying electrical schematics and documentation. Ability to read and interpret work orders, manuals, specifications, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings. Hands-on experience with electromechanical assembly related to electrical control systems. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to support production with timely troubleshooting and resolution of control issues. Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience selecting appropriate electrical components for control system designs. Familiarity with industrial pump systems or similar industrial equipment. Interest in becoming a technical expert in control systems within a growing organization. Work Environment This role is based in a typical industrial production environment where the primary products are industrial pumps and associated control systems. The engineer works on-site in close collaboration with production and engineering teams, frequently interacting with live equipment, control panels, and industrial machinery. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule with a flexible start time at 5:00 a.m., 6:00 a.m., or 7:00 a.m., allowing some choice in daily working hours. During the 9‑month contract period, team members receive access to an online learning platform after six months, along with two weeks of paid time off and six standard paid holidays. The environment emphasizes hands-on work with modern design tools, electrical test equipment, and industrial control technologies, supporting both focused engineering tasks and fast-paced troubleshooting on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Benton Harbor, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $40.00/hr.
