Team Lead Electrical Engineering TGW Systems Inc - 3.6 Grand Rapids, MI Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Customer communication Computer literacy Full Job Description The Electrical Engineering Team Lead supervises a team of Electrical Engineers and is responsible for the design and integration of control systems for industrial material-handling solutions and production lines. This position utilizes engineering tools and processes in the planning, design, engineering, and implementation of controls engineering equipment. The Team Lead provides high-level electrical engineering expertise and guides Electrical Engineering team on various projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Guides team of Electrical Engineers and performs supervisory tasks including review and approval of timecards, time-off requests, expense reports, and performance management activities (with support of manager), etc. Oversees project controls budgets and presents status updates on a monthly basis. Identifies, estimates, and mitigates risk for special implementation projects. Serves as next-level escalation point of contact for complex issues and provides advanced troubleshooting support onsite and offsite. Collaborates with internal departments and external customers before, during, and after implementation process. Performs quality assurance tasks and provides technical support to Project Engineering, Electrical and Mechanical Installation, Controls Commissioning, and other internal teams involved in installation and commissioning of TGW equipment. Assists with controls installation request-for-quote (RFQ) process. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Controls-related field (Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering) or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
Five (5) or more years of Controls or Electrical Engineering experience in industrial or material-handling environment.
Travel:
Up to 20% travel, as required. Skills & Abilities Demonstrated experience working on full design-to-production project lifecycles. Ability to read and understand CAD and electrical drawings (EPLAN). Understanding of controls systems engineering or related. Prior experience in formal or informal leadership roles. Experience with Siemens TIA Portal, Step 7, or equivalent knowledge. Robust knowledge of industrial automation and control systems. Basic understanding of Industrial Communication Protocol (ProfiNet, Ethernet IP, etc.) Working knowledge of SCRUM and agile frameworks preferred. Some experience with controls visualization systems preferred (SCADA, HMI, etc.) Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. Physical Requirements Ability to remain stationary at a desk for prolonged periods of time. Ability to go to site frequently and move safely around industrial and/or warehouse environment. Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 25 pounds at a time. Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices. Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing, on a frequent basis. Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region.
