Job Description

SEL Engineering Services, Inc. ("SEL-ES"), part of the Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. ("SEL") family of companies, seeks professional, innovative and detailed individuals for our Project Engineer - Protection position located at our Plymouth, Michigan field office. The Project Engineer—Protection is required to possess, understand, and apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of power system protection and related company products (involving system protection, protective relays, and their applications, settings, and testing). The incumbent will be expected to apply the principles of electrical engineering and: (1) train and assist customers with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of protection systems; (2) complete and implement assigned work within agreed-upon scope, schedule, and budget to a high level of quality and safety; (3) participate in the preparation of functional design specifications; (4) prepare and maintain detailed design documents, reports, checklists, test reports, and deliverables; (5) provide support for other company marketing, sales, application engineering, and development activities; and (6) continuously identify, measure, and improve company engineering processes. These full-time positions will be based out of SEL-ES's Plymouth, Michigan field office. However, because the company has numerous customers nationwide, some travel is required, as the incumbent will occasionally and on a short-term basis be deployed to various customer sites.
