Job Summary:
We are seeking a senior Vehicle Systems Staff Engineer to support the development and integration of advanced vehicle system architectures for new military vehicle platform designs. This role focuses on requirements decomposition, system and subsystem architecture, MBSE modeling, SysML behavior diagrams, integration planning, and vehicle-level systems engineering. This is a senior-level role requiring strong systems engineering experience and hands-on knowledge of complex vehicle systems, subsystem interactions, and component-level hardware/software integration.
Responsibilities:
Develop and lead system and subsystem-level requirements, including decomposition and traceability Support advanced vehicle system architecture development for new platform designs Capture and review connectivity diagrams at the system and subsystem level using MBSE and/or electrical design capture tools Model platform behaviors using SysML diagrams Support Model-Based Systems Engineering activities using CAMEO Develop vehicle and subsystem-level integration and test plans Support integration of components into existing and new vehicle architectures Work with hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to define and verify system behavior Support in-lab and/or on-vehicle integration, testing, troubleshooting, and verification of system performance Represent complex system, subsystem, and component interactions to support hardware and software design activities Support peer reviews, technical reviews, documentation, and cross-functional engineering coordination
Required Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship required — do not apply without U.S. Citizenship Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Control Systems, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field 8-10+ years of engineering experience Strong systems engineering background with experience across electrical, mechanical, software, or vehicle systems Proven MBSE experience using CAMEO Experience developing SysML diagrams and modeling system/platform behaviors Experience with requirements decomposition, requirements traceability, system architecture, and integration planning Experience developing system/subsystem integration and test plans Experience with vehicle electronics, mobility systems, CAN communications, video systems, or related vehicle architecture areas Ability to support onsite work in Sterling Heights, MI Must be able to work around military vehicles and meet confined-space/ASR requirements as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with military vehicles, defense platforms, ground vehicles, automotive systems, or heavy vehicles Experience with mobility systems such as engine/transmission, drive-by-wire, vehicle electronics interfacing, or CAN communications Experience with vehicle electronics systems, schematic development, data networking, or video/camera/display systems Experience with CAMEO, SysML, DOORS, JIRA, Teamcenter, VisMockup, or other systems engineering tools Ability to support lab and vehicle-level testing and integration
