The role focuses on PLC and HMI development, integrating Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms, troubleshooting controls issues, and collaborating with mechanical and electrical teams to deliver turnkey automation solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, program, test, and commission PLC and HMI control systems for new and existing equipment. Develop and maintain control system documentation including ladder logic, function block diagrams, I/O lists, wiring schematics, and sequence descriptions. Integrate Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix) and Siemens (S7, TIA Portal) controllers and ensure reliable communication between devices and higher-level systems (SCADA, MES). Create and configure HMI screens, alarms, and operator interfaces to provide clear, user-friendly control and monitoring. Perform on-site commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting of control systems; diagnose and resolve hardware and software faults. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, project management) to define control requirements and deliver efficient automation solutions. Implement and follow safety standards, control system best practices, and change management procedures. Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel, including developing user manuals and training materials. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize control strategies, improve uptime, and reduce cycle times. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation, or related field, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of experience in industrial controls engineering, including PLC and HMI development and commissioning. Hands-on experience programming Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) and Siemens PLC platforms and familiarity with TIA Portal and RSLogix/Studio 5000. Experience designing and configuring HMI systems (FactoryTalk View, WinCC, or equivalent). Strong understanding of control system architecture, I/O wiring, communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus), and industrial networking. Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose electrical and control system issues on-site. Familiarity with safety systems, PLC-based interlocks, and machine safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 62061) is preferred. Excellent communication skills, teamwork orientation, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Willingness to travel to customer sites for commissioning and support as required.
