Job Title:
Controls Engineer Job Description A growing systems integration organization is seeking a Controls Engineer to support automation, controls, and service functions within material handling and industrial environments. This role involves hands-on technical work, independent problem-solving, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners. Responsibilities Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs and HMIs to ensure proper system operation. Diagnose equipment issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. Modify and develop electrical schematics using standard drafting and electrical practices. Support equipment uptime by coordinating with maintenance teams and service providers. Assist and oversee third-party contractors as needed. Interface with customers to troubleshoot automation systems and provide technical guidance or training. Prepare technical documentation and reports. Communicate effectively with technical teams and leadership. Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. Travel up to 33% of the time. Essential Skills Experience working within Material Handling Equipment. Ability to develop and program PLC/HMI, particularly Allen-Bradley. Engineering Degree. Proficiency in PLC programming, Automation, and Electrical troubleshooting. Experience in Robotics, Controls engineering, and AutoCAD. Additional Skills & Qualifications Strong problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills. Experience in managing multiple priorities. Work Environment Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week when not traveling. During travel, expect to leave on a Sunday and return the following Saturday, with a workweek of 50 hours. The role requires working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wyoming, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
