Job Description
About Us Thor Medical Automation Inc. designs and builds capital equipment for medical device manufacturers. We are a small, highly capable team looking to add a resourceful, detail-oriented, technically skilled individual to our engineering team. Position Overview As a Controls Engineer, you will be working with the engineering team to design electrical controls. This includes creating schematics, programming PLCs and associated equipment. This role requires a high level of autonomy and technical competence across a range of platforms including PLCs, HMIs, motion systems, machine vision, and robotics. Key Responsibilities and Requirements Program control systems using Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) PLC platforms. Design and implement HMIs with a modern user experience, tailored to machine requirements. Integrate and configure machine vision systems for inspection, alignment, or guidance tasks. Develop PLC I/O wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and Bills of Materials for custom equipment. Maintain detailed electrical schematics. Apply NEC and NFPA 79 standards to ensure compliance and safety. Maintain accurate technical records, software archives, and revision tracking. Support system debugging, commissioning, and field service as needed. Visualize and design complete automation systems architecture. Some experince with Windows .Net programing. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. Experience in a custom machine-building environment. Familiarity with safety PLCs and risk assessments. Willingness to support hands-on builds and participate in startup/debug phases.
