Job Description

Job Title:
Electrical Engineer Job Description This role focuses on supporting engineering efforts related to PMA modular submission preparation by ensuring that all technical documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant. The Electrical Engineer will review, update, and remediate engineering documentation, participate in verification activities, and support QMS-related processes tied to engineering documentation, change control, and design history. The position also involves limited PCB design modifications, design for manufacturability support, and collaboration with manufacturing and test teams to enable efficient scale-up and production. Responsibilities Support engineering activities related to PMA modular submission preparation by ensuring that technical documentation meets all completeness, accuracy, and compliance requirements. Review, update, and remediate existing engineering documentation, including electrical schematics, verification protocols, test reports, design verification testing (DVT) documentation, and standards-based testing documentation. Perform schematic cleanup to finalize documentation and resolve open items, ensuring clear, consistent, and error-free design records. Participate in verification activities by reviewing test protocols, updating or creating verification documentation, and writing and finalizing verification reports. Support quality management system (QMS) activities associated with engineering documentation, change control, and design history requirements to maintain robust and traceable records. Make limited design modifications to existing PCB-based designs when necessary, with a strong emphasis on minimizing product risk and maintaining design intent. Provide design for manufacturability (DFM) awareness and engineering support for constrained redesign efforts to improve producibility and reliability. Assist with manufacturing scale-up and ongoing production support through close collaboration with manufacturing and test teams. Contribute to the development and support of fixtures and PCB-related production solutions to enhance testing, assembly, and overall production efficiency. Support schematic capture and documentation updates within the existing design environment, ensuring alignment with established standards and processes. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. 5+ years of experience with PCB-level electrical design. 5+ years of experience with schematic capture and electrical documentation. Experience reviewing and updating engineering documentation in an ISO-regulated environment. Familiarity with verification activities, including protocol review, documentation updates, and verification report generation. Understanding of quality management system (QMS) processes, engineering change practices, and controlled documentation. Hands-on experience with hardware and PCB-based designs in a technical engineering environment. Ability to perform detailed schematic cleanup and documentation remediation with high attention to detail. Capability to make limited, risk-conscious modifications to existing PCB designs. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with medical device hardware or in a regulated medical device environment. Background in design verification testing (DVT) and standards-based testing documentation. Exposure to design for manufacturability (DFM) principles and support for constrained redesign efforts. Experience collaborating with manufacturing and test teams during scale-up and production support. Ability to support the development and maintenance of test fixtures and PCB-related production solutions. Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and cross-functional collaboration. Organized and methodical approach to documentation, change control, and design history maintenance. Work Environment The role operates in a structured, engineering-focused environment with close interaction between design, verification, quality, manufacturing, and test teams. Work centers on PCB-level electrical design, schematic capture, and documentation within an established design and ISO-regulated quality management system. The position involves significant time working with technical documentation, verification protocols, and test reports, as well as periodic collaboration with production and test areas to support manufacturing scale-up and ongoing production needs. The environment emphasizes compliance, documentation accuracy, and controlled processes to support medical device or similarly regulated hardware products. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Saint Paul, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr.
