This position focuses on system reliability improvements, new construction, and infrastructure upgrades while ensuring compliance with client standards, NESC requirements, and utility engineering practices. The ideal candidate will have experience in utility distribution design, construction package development, and drafting/design software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation. Candidates with experience working for electric utilities or utility consulting firms are strongly encouraged to apply. This position will be based out of our St.

Coeur, Missouri office. --- Key Responsibilities Develop design and construction work packages for overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. Perform electrical distribution line design for utility infrastructure improvement and reliability projects. Review and assess client-provided scopes of work, standards, and engineering requirements. Design overhead and underground electrical distribution systems using AutoCAD in accordance with NESC and utility standards. Develop detailed construction drawings, layouts, and engineering packages. Prepare Bills of Material (BOM), construction estimates, and supporting documentation. Coordinate with engineering teams, utility personnel, permitting agencies, and field crews. Assist with utility permitting, easement coordination, and right-of-way considerations. Submit completed construction packages for review, approval, and revisions. Conduct field investigations, including collecting measurements, photos, and existing utility data when required. Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams through email, phone, and Microsoft Teams. Perform QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables to ensure quality and compliance. --- Required Qualifications High school diploma required. Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or related field preferred. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline preferred. Minimum of 2+ years of experience in utility distribution design preferred. Experience working with electric utilities or utility consulting firms. Understanding of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. Working knowledge of NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) requirements. Understanding of single-phase and three-phase power systems, transformers, conductors, and pole configurations. Experience using drafting and design software such as: o AutoCAD o MicroStation o Arc
GIS / ESRI GIS
platforms o Distribution Design Studio (DDS) Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities. Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines. --- Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with utility construction standards and utility regulations Knowledge of surveying principles and utility right-of-way requirements. Experience developing construction estimates and material takeoffs. Experience supporting system improvement and reliability projects. QA/QC experience reviewing utility engineering packages. Experience coordinating with utility field operations and construction crews. --- Additional Requirements Valid driver's license required. Candidates must be at least 21 years old due to insurance requirements. Must possess a satisfactory driving record. Ability to travel occasionally for field visits and client meetings. Background check and drug screening required.
