Job Description

Talascend is currently seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Asheville, North Carolina . Overview The role involves electrical utility design engineering, working on projects related to overhead and underground distribution systems, with opportunities for professional growth and development in various technical areas. Responsibilities Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections, and conduct engineering design work in office Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis, conductor sags and tensions, voltage drop, and flicker Develop permitting documents for different authorities having jurisdiction Provide engineering support during construction and conduct post-construction reviews Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation efforts Gain experience in coordination of conflicting utilities and complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments Qualifications Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET-accredited institution Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Ability to utilize a personal vehicle for travel (reimbursed) Willingness to perform both field and office work, with the ability to work outdoors occasionally Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills We thank all applicants for their interest.
