Job Description

Location:
Charlotte, NCOur client is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join their team and take a lead role in designing, programming, and developing engineered control drawings for advanced Building Automation Systems (BAS). This position requires strong technical expertise and a commitment to delivering quality, efficiency, and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop BAS control sequences, engineered drawings, and schematics for new installations.

Interpret project plans and specifications, creating operational sequences, wiring details, BOM, and submittals.

Generate control-engineered drawings and wiring schematics using AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio.

Build and manage BAS databases, including supervisor devices and field-level controllers.

Develop and test field-level programs, supporting technicians during implementation and commissioning.

Maintain standardized programming templates and stay updated on BAS software tools.

Collaborate with project managers and estimating teams to ensure accurate material selection and project scope alignment.

RequirementsBS degree in engineering or engineering technology OR a two-year community college diploma with 10+ years of BAS controls engineering and design experience.

Educational background in electronics, computer programming, or mechanical technology.

Proficiency with AutoCAD or Microsoft Visio.

Valid driver's license.

PreferredStrong knowledge of HVAC equipment and system operations.

AutoCAD 2D proficiency.

Tridium AX and N4 design knowledge for product selection and layout.

Distech Controls certification.

Nice-to-HaveHigh accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Strong communication skills with co-workers, engineers, and general contractors.
