Electrical Design Engineer /
Senior Electrical Design Engineer Company:

Job Type:
Full-Time The Opportunity CPI is a leading manufacturer of high-quality electrical switchgear. We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer (Intermediate or Senior level) who thrives on turning complex commercial construction blueprints into functional, custom-engineered power distribution solutions. In this role, you aren't just drafting; you are the technical architect of switchgear packages. You will leverage your expertise in electrical controls and power distribution to ensure every project is safe, efficient, and built to spec. Key Responsibilities Analyze request for quotes (RFQs), electrical schematics/construction drawings, and technical specifications to design custom switchgear and control systems based on project requirements. Utilize AutoCAD to develop and refine electrical schematics, panel layouts, and component configurations. Prepare wiring schematics for electrical distribution and control components. Common components include panelboards, breakers, contactors, relays, motor starters, VFD's, PCB's, dimming systems, PLC's, metering devices and more. PLC programming and control systems experience is a major plus! Estimate material, labor, and overhead costs for projects, contributing to accurate and competitive proposals. Act as a primary technical point of contact to discuss project requirements, design specifications, and installation details with end-users, contractors, field technicians, architects and engineers. Provide technical expertise and guidance to the shop floor and customers, resolving engineering-related issues. Work closely with engineering and sales teams to ensure all technical and budgetary requirements are met for each project. Ensure all designs adhere to NEC standards, UL standards, and project specifications. Create and maintain detailed Bills of Material (BOM) and project files using Microsoft Office and our ERP system. Experience:
Proven electrical design experience is required. We are looking for both Intermediate and Senior level applicants; salary is adjusted based on your specific qualifications.
Industry Knowledge:
Strong background in electrical controls and power distribution equipment relating to commercial buildings. Experience and expertise in Schneider Electric power distribution products is a plus!
Software Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications. The "Senior"
