Job Description
Description The Power Electronics Engineer is responsible for engineering, overseeing manufacturing and or sourcing, installation, and development of complex multi-phase high voltage (480V) systems including but not limited to: wiring design and installation, variable frequency drives, generator sets, load banks, industrial process controllers, and switching gear. In addition to specifying this hardware, the candidate should also be able to have hands on experience with installing and optimizing these devices including all aspects of measurement and control (CAN communication protocol, synchronization strategies, etc). Initially, the primary project of interest for the candidate will be continued development of the M2X Reformer and Reactor skid systems and sub-systems. Later, projects of interest will be related to Motorsports including ECU development, starters and alternators, sensors, etc. The ideal candidate for this position will have education in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, and or Mechatronics Engineering. Having additional experience with Experience with combustion engine controls (EFI), engine mechatronics devices (starters and alternators), custom controller development (Arduinos etc), power electronics, and engine testing including experience with AVL products is a plus.

This position requires an employee to be on-site (Welcome, North Carolina) on a fulltime basis. Infrequent travel to Texas, Oklahoma, North Dakota, and other similar mid-west locations may be required.Essential Duties and Candidate Skillsets:
- Demonstrated experience in design and implementation of high voltage and multiple phase power electronics.
- Hands-on experience with practical systems, including wiring and electrical system hardware installation and troubleshooting.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Professional experience and ability to engineer 480V systems up to 400 amps including microgrid power management with generators and motors with experience transitioning between shore power supplies.
- Instrumentation/control/calibration demonstrated experience including CAN communication, harness design and manufacturing, power electronics design/synchronization, and new controller implementation. 322 Austin Lane Welcome, NC 27374
- Demonstrated experience with data acquisition and analysis.
- Demonstrated experience leading and participating in team settings.
- Ability to enthusiastically work on novel, complex engineering projects with minimal oversight.
- Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies and tackle new challenges.
- Contribute, lead, and or manage electronics or mechatronic projects of interest including but not limited to race engine mechatronic devices (starters, alternators, sensors, etc) and or other ECR projects involving controls, electrical engineering, etc.
- On an as needed basis, consult with ECR leadership and engineering on building facility issues related to power electronics etc.
- Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, wiring and harness diagrams. test plans, and reports.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electronics into larger systems.
