Job Title:
Junior Electrical / Controls Engineer Job Description The Junior Electrical / Controls Engineer supports the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of industrial electrical and automation systems. This role works under the guidance of engineers to assist with control panel design, PLC programming, system testing, and equipment commissioning. The engineer will contribute to improving system reliability, supporting production operations, and ensuring electrical systems meet safety and code requirements. This position is well-suited for early-career engineers seeking hands-on experience in manufacturing or industrial automation environments. Responsibilities Assist in designing and implementing industrial electrical and automation systems. Support control panel design and PLC programming. Contribute to system testing and equipment commissioning. Help improve system reliability and support production operations. Ensure electrical systems meet safety and code requirements. Assist with startup, testing, and validation of control systems. Identify and resolve basic electrical or logic issues under supervision. Essential Skills Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts. Understanding of AC/DC circuits, control voltage, and industrial power distribution. Exposure to PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent). Familiarity withHMI/SCADA
concepts. Basic troubleshooting of sensors, VFDs, and control panels. Proficiency in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical for schematics and panel drawings. Basic use of PLC software (Studio 5000, TIA Portal, etc.). Competence in Microsoft Excel for documentation and testing results. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field. Internship, co-op, or 1-3 years of relevant industrial or manufacturing experiencet Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wilkesboro, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
