Wilmington, North Carolina, United States Talascend is currently seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Wilmington, North Carolina. Overview This role involves electrical utility design engineering with a focus on developing work packages for overhead, underground, and street lighting projects in dense urban environments. the position offers opportunities for professional growth and learning in areas such as project management, client standards, and technical design. Responsibilities Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems from 4kv through 138kv
Perform engineering calculations including structural analysis, conductor sags, voltage drop, and flicker
Prepare permitting documents for various authorities having jurisdiction
Support construction activities with site inspections and post-construction reviews
Perform root cause analysis of outages and recommend mitigations
Coordinate conflicting utilities and field engineering design requirements
Assist with assessment and development of complex cable/conduit projects in urban settings
Travel to sites as needed for inspections and support
Qualifications
Bachelor of science degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, or industrial engineering from an ABET-accredited institution required
Proficiency in ms office (word, excel, outlook)
Ability to utilize a personal vehicle for travel
Willingness to perform field and office work, including outdoor environments
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with distribution design tools such asboud, Pole Foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc
Experience with cad tools, microstation, and gis software
Knowledge of nesc and design standards
